IMPORTANT: Evolution To Game Intelligence Data – What to Expect

.

Executive Summary: Key Updates at a Glance

- Change: We have been working on automated on-ball event detection for the last 18 months and are now embedding this within our data collection process to seamlessly integrate with player/ball tracking data and power all Game Intelligence outputs.

- Scope: This only affects Game Intelligence. Physical and XY Tracking products remain unchanged.

- Timeline: February 2026 is a transition month (dual data access). 1st March 2026 is the full switchover. Historical data will also be reprocessed for consistency.

- Action: Clients will need to switch to a new version which also includes a range of new metrics and modified calculation logic for aggregated metricsAs part of our commitment to deliver high quality, consistent data that you can trust, we are writing to inform you of an important evolution to our Game Intelligence products.

As part of our commitment to deliver high quality, consistent data that you can trust, we are writing to inform you of an important evolution to our Game Intelligence products. Starting February 2026, Game Intelligence Dynamic Events - and all derived metrics - will be generated via SkillCorner’s automated (on-ball) event detection.

What is changing?

We are evolving our Game Intelligence data generation process by transitioning to our own automated events, removing reliance on third-party event sources (except for shots and goals). Full ownership of our data production ensures consistency across every competition we cover. This stability allows us to scale our breadth of coverage, build stronger models on data we fully control, and further improve our data quality

This transition has been a key part of our roadmap. Over the past year, we have validated an automated pipeline that delivers consistent outputs across competitions, expands GI data coverage, and secures full operational control of our data. This change has no effect on our X,Y Tracking and Physical data. Data quality and workflows remain stable, and no client action is required.

Alongside this change, we are introducing ball-carrier pressure context to our Dynamic Events. This captures the type and intensity of pressure received. We are also releasing a new version of our aggregated metrics, directly derived from the Dynamic Events - including new on-ball, off-ball, and out-of-possession metrics - to further enrich the Game Intelligence insights you receive.

Dynamic Events

- File formats: No structural changes; formats remain identical plus the addition of the ball-carrier pressure context

- Usability: Data remains fully suitable for aggregated metrics, modeling, and analysis.

- Access: API and WQT access continues as usual with the addition of a query parameter

- Coverage: Current competitions coverage is expected to remain unchanged, with the added ability to generate Game Intelligence data for competitions where third-party event data was previously unavailable.

- Values: Some metric values may evolve slightly as they are now built on a new, more consistent methodology.

- Precision: Overall precision remains high across the GI metrics. During the initial rollout, a small number of specific fields may show marginally lower precision in edge cases. These cases are being actively monitored, and corrective action will be taken promptly if any issues are identified.

Aggregates

Game Intelligence aggregates will now be built entirely on Dynamic Events. The following changes will affect the Web Query Tool,API users and Web App Lab

Format

- API response format will evolve while remaining similar to existing ones

Data availability

- Expected to remain similar with some gain and loss on competitions.

Metrics Availability:

- The most important metrics remain available.
- We have added expanded aggregated metrics, including on-ball, off-ball, and out-of-possession data.
- A limited number of metrics have been renamed, replaced, or removed for clarity. Some values will reflect minor changes due to the new methodology and improved modeling.
- All aggregates can still be recomputed directly from Dynamic Events if needed.

New Metrics

- We are adding new ball-carrier pressure context metrics - capturing the type and intensity of pressure received - to our Dynamic Events and releasing expanded aggregated metrics derived from them, including new on-ball, off-ball, and out-of-possession metrics.

In terms of workflow; API users will have access to new endpoints and Web Query Tool users will have access to new pages.

Transition Period

Due to external factors from 3rd party data providers we have a reduced implementation timeline. To ensure a managed changeover, we will provide a supported transition period throughout February 2026. During this time, both versions will be accessible, allowing you to compare datasets and validate your workflows. We will share a validation document prior to the change to help you navigate the new data with confidence. From 1st March 2026 all Game Intelligence data will only be available via the new version.

To maintain consistency, all historical match data will be fully reprocessed. This will occur in phases, during February & March, starting with the most recent seasons, ensuring consistent methodology and reliable longitudinal analysis.

Post-match delivery times may be slightly longer during the initial phase, particularly for match analysis use cases. We are monitoring this closely to minimize any delays. However, removing our dependency on third-party providers unlocks a significant benefit: we can now produce all three datasets - Tracking (X,Y), Physical, and Game Intelligence - in Fast Delivery mode when you share match video directly with us. If fast delivery is critical to your workflow, please contact your Customer Solutions Manager to discuss the available options.

Thank you for your trust and continued collaboration.
