The introduction of Explosive Accelerations enhances the analysis of player performance by addressing limitations in traditional physical metrics. These new metrics unlock fresh perspectives on evaluating players' physical capabilities by offering greater insights into their explosiveness. More specifically, this approach can better quantify the quality of a player's movement, as ‘explosiveness’ can differentiate players when their number of high accelerations are similar or the same.
What is an Explosive Acceleration?
An Explosive Acceleration is defined as:- A High Acceleration: the player spends over 0.7 seconds at an acceleration of 3 m/s²
- From a standing or walking pace (speed below 9 km/h | 2.5 m/s) to a HSR [20 km/h] or a Sprint [25 km/h]
Four key metrics for each player performance include:
- Count of Explosive Accelerations to HSR: how many times a player achieved an Explosive Acceleration and reached High Speed Run speed (20 km/h | 5.5 m/s)
- Count of Explosive Accelerations to Sprint: how many times a player achieved an Explosive Acceleration and reached Sprint speed (25 km/h | 6.9 m/s)
- Time to HSR: the minimum time a player spent between 9km/h and 20 km/h when achieving an Explosive Acceleration to HSR
- Time to Sprint: the minimum time a player spent between 9km/h and 25 km/h when achieving an Explosive Acceleration to Sprint
The new Explosive Acceleration metrics are exclusively available with our Physical V3 data for performances of 60+ minutes and includes historical data starting from the 2023/2024 season. These new metrics can be accessed via both our WebApp and API, giving you even deeper insights into your players physical performance.
