Champions League Last 16 Match-Ups
With the round of 16 draw made for the Champions League earlier this week, we've used our physical and Game Intelligence data to compare the teams facing each other in the next round.
First we can use physical data to compare the average "work-rate" of players in this season's competition.
We can see how much ground is covered by each team in and out of possession, and how similar or different the profiles are for each match-up.
Using Game Intelligence data we can look at how each team's central defenders deal with pressure in the Champions League.
Here we are plotting the number of high intensity pressures the players receive when they have the ball, and how often possession is retained in those situations.
Again using Game Intelligence data, we can compare the types of run made by forwards in this season's Champions League.
These charts show the number of Runs In Behind made by forwards, and what ratio of those runs are classified as dangerous.
We can also use Game Intelligence to understand passing execution.
These charts show how often each team's midfield attempts to pass to a dangerous run, and the completion ratio when a pass is attempted.
